We celebrated in Naples on April 25, 2007.
Kites were flown all over the place, though lots of our flyers had terrible weather and instead had to spend the day thinking about flying kites....
A place for everyone who loved Captain/Pete/Bob/Dad to share their kite flying fun on April 25th.

Please add Rhode Island, and Mass to the list. The local radio station, B101FM, Providence announced it on the radio that day in 2006. Followed by a dedication to my loved brother Bob and my favorite sister in law, "I Got You Babe.
Kites were flying in Coventry RI and Rehoboth Beach Mass, for Bob that day, and I will again talk to my friends at the station for this years event.
Love you all.

I remember skydiving with Bob before skydiving was part of America's lexicon and there were no sport parachuting parachuting manufacturers. I guess we were pioneers and never knew it till many years later. Bob never bragged about his accomplishments, but rather shared them with those he performed them with. He always made me laugh and boosted my ego even though there were times I didn't deserve it. What better friend and teammate could one have?!
I dated Bob when we were students at Cranford High School. Back then, Bob delivered milk & when we had a date, he had to be home early so he could get up "with the birds" to do his route. Among our friends was Bob Paterson & they were very close friends..."Pete & Pat" as we called them.
I moved to Florida 4 years ago & during a visit from my grandson's, we went to Naples to visit my cousin. My grandson Shawn & I stopped by Bob's store for a surprise visit. Shawn took a great pic of us together ~ a lasting memory of our brief visit. I was able to attend Bob's memorial service on the beach as a representative of the Class of '56.

~"SUNNY" in Florida~
just say it out loud-"go fly a kite"-and you'll hear his voice! counting the minutes to get to the beach...
We couldn't physically be with you to fly a kite today, but please know we were there in our thoughts and prayers. We miss you Bob!

Rain and a windless sky postponed our flight but not our celebration of a wonderful man as we tried (un-successfully)to repeat some of Bob's classic jokes that only he could tell. He left us much too early.
